2022 Pinot Noir/Gamay

Sonus Vineyard

This wine is a co-fermentation of 60% Pinot Noir & 40% Gamay Noir from our very own Sonus Vineyard in the Coast Range west of McMinnville. The vineyard sits on volcanic soils and ranges from 650-800ft in elevation and has been farmed organically since planting. The Pinot Noir was picked on October 5th and underwent a 6 day carbonic maceration before the Gamay was harvested on October 11th. The fruit was combined together and gently foot tread to finish primary fermentation with native yeasts using a combination of pump overs and punch downs to control extraction. The wine was pressed off the skins after 19 days and was aged for 16 months in neutral French oak barrels before being bottled unfined, unfiltered in February 2024.

This wine has great balance, a perfect food wine. The Pinot Noir creates delicate freshness with lifted red fruit aromatics of ripe raspberry and summer strawberries, while the Gamay adds a darker character of earthiness and brings structure to the wine. You have been warned: this could be your ideal pizza wine! From summer BBQ to Thanksgiving dinner, this wine is a crowd pleaser. Delicious now, delicious in 5 years.
